Our Story

Solaire Atelier was born from a singular vision: to preserve the ancient art of hand craftsmanship and silk craftsmanship, and to bring it into the modern world as wearable art. Each garment we create is a celebration of heritage, a tribute to the artisans whose hands have practiced these techniques for generations, and a promise to those who wear them that they carry something truly meaningful.

Founded in Los Angeles, our atelier draws inspiration from the golden California light and the timeless beauty of slow, intentional craftsmanship. We believe fashion should be meaningful — not disposable. Every piece is made to be treasured, not trends to be followed.

The Craft

Our garments require 18+ hours of dedicated labor by multiple artisans. Each piece is individually crafted by hand onto silk and mesh foundations, creating intricate botanical, floral, and geometric patterns that catch and reflect light with every movement.

The silk we use is sourced from four distinguished regions, each offering unique characteristics:

China — Mulberry Silk

The finest and most lustrous silk, known for its smooth texture and natural sheen.

Korea — Myeongju

Traditional Korean silk with a distinctive texture and cultural significance.

Japan — Habutai & Chirimen

Japanese silk varieties prized for their exceptional quality and unique weave.

India — Woven Silks

Rich, handwoven Indian silks that carry centuries of textile tradition.
